Dual Education for the Modern Requirements and Needs of Society (DOMINO)

Dual education was introduced in Bulgaria through the project “Swiss Support for the Introduction of Dual Track Principles in the Bulgarian Vocational Education System,” financed by Switzerland under the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Programme. The project, better known in Bulgaria as DOMINO (the Bulgarian abbreviation for Dual Education for the Modern Needs and Requirements of Society), was successfully implemented with the active involvement of the Modern Education Foundation, whose team members played a crucial role in the project’s execution and success.
The project had a total budget of CHF 3,530,000, including 15% co-funding from the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science. The Modern Education Foundation, alongside other partners, leveraged the extensive experience of Switzerland, the expertise of other countries, and the longstanding traditions of Bulgarian vocational education. This collaboration ensured that dual education became a key factor in Bulgaria, much like it has been in Switzerland, where it contributes significantly to economic success, competitiveness, and low youth unemployment rates.
